Grimbergen is a Belgian municipality in the province of Flemish Brabant in the Flanders region with 37,542 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2019). It is located on the northern edge of the Brussels agglomeration and, in addition to the eponymous capital, consists of the districts Beigem , Humbeek and Strombeek-Bever .
The city center of Brussels is about 10 kilometers (km) south, Mechelen 13 km northwest and Antwerp 32 km north.
The next motorway exits are Grimbergen and Vilvoorde on the northern Brussels motorway ring and Meise on the A12 in the west.
In Schaerbeek / Schaarbeek are the next and Vilvoorde regional stations and Brussels keep on regional express trains. Brussels National
Airport near the capital about 10 km east of the municipality of Grimbergen is an airport of international importance.
In Grimbergen there is a Premonstratensian abbey with the church of St. Servatius , which is also known for the Grimbergen abbey beer , which has been brewed by the Belgian brewery Alken-Maes since 1958 .
