history

The place was first mentioned in 1319 as "Berndorf". The defining word of the place name is either the personal name Bero or the bear . In the first case, reference would be made to the founder of the settlement; in the second, reference would be made to the fact that there were bears in the area.

About 500 meters southwest of Berndorf is the listed castle stable of the large, round tower hill Altes Schloss , which is popularly known as the "Old Castle". The castle was probably the seat of the Knights of Geißendorf, who were part of the Colmberg castle team.

In the 16-point report of the Oberamt Ansbach from 1684 17 teams are listed for Berndorf: Twelve properties were subordinate to the Stiftsamt Ansbach , one to the Kastenamt Colmberg and four to the Vogtamt Birkenfels . The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach court box office in Ansbach , the village and community rule was held by the Ansbach monastery office.

At the end of the 18th century there were 14 properties in Berndorf. The high court exercised the court box office in Ansbach. The Ansbach Abbey was in charge of the village and community. The principality of Ansbach was the landlord of all properties (Stiftsamt Ansbach: 1 Dreiviertelhof, 6 Köblergüter , 3 Söldengütlein ; Kastenamt Colmberg: 4 Köblergüter). In addition to the property, there were also communal buildings (shepherd's house, breaker's house ). From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the municipal edict, Berndorf was assigned to the Obersulzbach tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Obersulzbach, founded in 1811 . In the course of the territorial reform , this was incorporated into Lehrberg on May 1, 1978.
