history

The place was first mentioned by name in 1345 as "Obern Hesspach" with the meaning of the brook of the Hesso . The brook refers to the Rezat on which the settlement was built; the personal name Hesso probably refers to the founder of the settlement.

Towards the end of the 18th century, Oberheßbach and Unterheßbach formed a community. There were nine properties in Oberheßbach. The high court exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbach Hofkastenamt Ansbach . The village and community rulership was held by the Eichstättische Vogtamt Lehrberg . The landlords were the Herrieden provost's office in Eichstätt (6 half yards, 1 Söldengut ) and the Wiedersbach manor of the Lords of Eyb (2 half yards). At that time there were 7 subject families. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Oberheßbach was assigned to the Gräfenbuch tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community of Graefenbuch, founded in 1811 . On September 13, 1827, the formation of the rural community Heßbach was approved, to which Oberheßbach also belonged. In voluntary jurisdiction, two properties were subordinate to the Frohnhof Patrimonial Court from 1822 to 1836

In the course of the regional reform , Heßbach was incorporated into Lehrberg on January 1, 1972.

The difference of 8 inhabitants is explained by the fact that the independent districts of Dauers-, Fritz-, See- and Walkmühle are not listed.
