history

The place was first mentioned in the second half of the 14th century as "Smalembach". The place name is derived from a water body of the same name, with which the Franconian Rezat, which runs in close proximity to the place, was designated.

In the 16-point report of the Ansbach Regional Office from 1684, eight teams were listed for Schmalenbach. Two properties were subordinate to the court box office of Ansbach , two properties to the mayor and council of Ansbach , three properties to a Herr von Ayrer and one property to a Herr Flechtner. The high court and the village and community authority exercised the Brandenburg-Ansbachische Hofkastenamt Ansbach.

At the end of the 18th century there were eight properties in Schmalenbach. The court box office in Ansbach continued to exercise the high court and the village and community rule. The principality of Ansbach was the landlord (Hofkastenamt Ansbach: 2 courtyards, 3 estates, 1 mill ; Ansbach council: 1 half courtyard, 1 estate ). In addition to these properties there were also communal buildings (shepherd's house, breaker's house ). There were 10 subject families at that time. From 1797 to 1808 the place was under the judiciary and chamber office of Ansbach .

As part of the community edict, Schmalenbach was assigned to the Schalkhausen tax district formed in 1809 . With the new formation of the tax district Neuses near Ansbach on June 23, 1810, the change took place there. It also belonged to the rural community of Neuses near Ansbach, founded in 1811. In the course of the second municipal edict (1818), Schmalenbach was re- municipalityed to Lehrberg. On August 16, 1840 the formation of the rural community Zailach was approved, to which Schmalenbach also belonged. In the course of the regional reform this was incorporated into Lehrberg on January 1, 1972.
