Oberamt Wahrberg-Herrieden
The Oberamt Wahrberg-Herrieden was an administrative district of the Hochstift Eichstätt with its seat at Wahrberg Castle .
history
In 888, the Eichstatt Bishop Erchanbald was given the Herriedener Benedictine monastery of St. Salvator with all its affiliations, which essentially comprised the area of the later established Oberamt Wahrberg-Herrieden. Since the area was too far from Eichstätt, the bishop transferred his feudal lordship to the House of Oettingen , which it held until 1310. Since then Eichstätt was again the feudal lord. Gradually, the bishopric also acquired the manorial claims: In 1262 Ulrich von Wahrberg sold his shares, in 1355 the Erkinger, Truchsess von Wahrberg and in 1398 finally Jakob Truchseß Ritter von Wilburgstetten.
In 1803 the upper office of Wahrberg-Herrieden was dissolved. The subjects were assigned to the Ansbacher and Crailsheimer district .
