history

Stadel was probably built in the 8th / 9th centuries. Century, when farmers gradually settled around a shared barn . The oldest Salbuch of the collegiate monastery Herrieden from 1288 designated Stadel as one of nine monastery offices; the Amtmannshof used farms and estates in Elbersroth , Gimpertshausen , Graefenbuch , Schönau , Stadel and Stegbruck . In the 15th century, the office and court, as well as goods belonging to those from Lentersheim in Stadel, passed to the episcopal chair of Eichstätt , who gave the court a fief . Towards the end of the Old Kingdom , 1802, there were 14 households in the village, all of which were subordinate to the Eichstättischen Oberamt Wahrberg-Herrieden and parish to Herrieden.

In the new Kingdom of Bavaria (1806), Stadel was incorporated into the Aurach tax district in the Herrieden district court and rent office. As a result of the municipal edict of 1818, Stadel and the hamlet of Schönau formed a rural community . It was subject to the Herrieden district court in terms of administration and jurisdiction . The municipality had an area of 4,550 km².

Around 1950 there were 15 agricultural properties in the village of Stadel. As part of the regional reform , the municipality of Stadel was incorporated into Herrieden in the district of Ansbach on July 1, 1971.

Several large half-timbered barns still define the townscape today.
