history
The place was probably founded in the 10th century.
In the geographical statistical-topographical lexicon of Franconia (1801) the place is described as follows:
" Leidenbuch, Eichstättischer hamlet in the Oberamte Ansbach, belongs with all its 9 subjects, the municipality and the shepherd's staff to the Ober- and Stadtvogtey - then Probstamte Wahrberg Herrieden and is a little hour southeast under Herrieden between Rauenzell and the Altmühl."
As part of the community edict, people book was assigned to the Rauenzell tax district, which was formed in 1808 . It also belonged to the rural community Rauenzell , which was founded a little later . With the second community edict (1818) people book was moved to Hohenberg . In 1840 at the latest, the place was reorganized into the newly formed rural community of Roth .
In February 1945, the Menschenbucher corridor, which the American forces believed to be an airfield, was devastated by a carpet of 117 bombs. A citizen of the place also died.
In 1950 a small Catholic local chapel was built from Solnhofen sandstone.
On July 1, 1971, in the course of the regional reform , people book was incorporated into Herrieden.
