Sauerbach is a district of the city of Herrieden in the Ansbach district in Middle Franconia .

geography

The hamlet is located on the Hechelschutzbach (formerly also called Sauerbach), a right tributary of the Altmühl , and on the Esbach, which flows into the Hechelschutzbach near the village as a right tributary. Approx. The Langfeld is 0.5 km to the southwest, the Wannenfeld is adjacent to the southeast, and the Lachenfeld is about 0.5 km to the northwest. A community road leads to Leibelbach to the district road AN 54 (1.5 km northwest) or past Winn to Thann to the AN 55 (2.8 km east).

history

The place was in the Fraisch district of the Eichstättischen Oberamt Wahrberg-Herrieden . In 1802 there were two farms and a shepherd's house in the village. The sole landlord was the Hochstift Eichstätt ( Kastenamt Herrieden : 2 properties, Stiftskapitel Herrieden : 1 property).

With the community edict (early 19th century) Sauerbach was assigned to the tax district Heuberg and the rural community Lammelbach . As part of the regional reform in Bavaria , Sauerbach was incorporated into Herrieden on July 1, 1971.

The place remained Catholic even after the Reformation. The residents of the Roman Catholic denomination are parish according to St. Vitus and Deocar (Herrieden) , the residents of the Evangelical Lutheran denomination are parish in the Christ Church (Herrieden) .
