Großenried is a district of the market Bechhofen in the district of Ansbach in Middle Franconia .

geography

The parish village is located on the south bank of the Altmühl in a flat hilly plain consisting of arable land and grassland with a few trees. In the south-west are the Moosklinge and Im Gottendorf corridors, and Heerstraße in the south-east. The Moosklingengraben (called Roßbachgraben in the lower reaches) and the Holzwiesengraben, both right tributaries of the Altmühl, flow south of the village.

The national road 2221 leads to Kleinried (0.5 km north) or on commercial zone Bechhofen (3 km south). The district road AN 55 leads to Weidendorf (1 km northwest) or to Mörlach (2.7 km east). A community road leads to Liebersdorf (2 km to the west).

history

As early as 1188, Großenried was owned by the Hohenstaufers . In the following period the place belonged to the Hochstift Eichstätt .

With the community edict (early 19th century) the tax district Großenried was formed, to which the places Aub , Kleinried , Liebersdorf , Mörlach and Weidendorf belonged. A little later the rural community of Großenried was formed with Aub, Kleinried and Weidendorf . It was subject to the Herrieden district court in terms of administration and jurisdiction . The municipality had an area of 8.085 km².

In connection with the regional reform in Bavaria , the question of the continued existence of the municipality arose. As an alternative, integration into a community was discussed. For this came Burgoberbach , Herrieden or Bechhofen in question. The citizens decided in favor of incorporation into Bechhofen, which took place on July 1, 1971.

Until the 1970s, Großenried had its own train station on the Leutershausen-Wiedersbach-Bechhofen railway line, which has now been closed .
