Blade: Trinity

Blade II is a 2002 vampire action film directed by Guillermo del Toro . The film is based on the Marvel comic book of the same name and is the sequel to Blade from 1998. The third part Blade: Trinity was released in 2004. Blade, played by Wesley Snipes , has to team up with his mortal enemies to eliminate the dangerous Reaper.

action

Half-vampire Blade is looking for his companion Whistler. He was infected with the vampire virus and tortured and ill-treated by vampires for years (although he shot himself in the first part; the disease kept him alive). When he is free and healed, the hunt for the bloodsuckers could go on without hindrance, but now Blade has to face a completely different threat.

Nomak, the carrier of a new mutation of the vampire virus, walks around Prague and not only bites people, but also vampires, who ultimately also mutate into so-called "reapers". So Blade must team up with the vampires to fend off this threat; Together with some vampires, including Nyssa, the daughter of the vampire elder Damaskinos, he trains the so-called Bloodpack , a blood-sucking elite combat unit. This unit was created to destroy the "Daywalker", ie Blade.

So united they go in search of Nomak. Blade seems to be showing emotion for the first time and becomes more and more friends with Nyssa. But then comes the nasty surprise: Nomak was created by the vampires themselves, because they wanted to breed a new breed of “Daywalkers”, who don't mind silver and sunlight, based on Blade's example. The Reaper were the first, unsuccessful attempt, but through Blade's second assistant, Scud, who turns out to be a traitor, the Vampire Blade get their hands on the Vampire Blade and want to try again.

However, Blade and Whistler lured Nomak to the bloodsuckers' headquarters, which overrun the defenders and wreak havoc among its creators. He also bites Nyssa, who turns out to be his sister, and kills both of their father Damaskinos, but the Blade freed by Whistler manages to kill him in the end. Nyssa asks him to carry her into the sunlight before she transforms into a reaper. She crumbles to ash in his arms, and Blade is alone again.

In the final scene, the vampire, whom Blade left alive in exchange for Whistler's help during the liberation of Whistler, is surprised by him in a strip club and turned to ashes.

criticism

“Second part of the film adaptation of a comic idea, determined even more than the first film by the carnage among bloodsuckers, which are increasingly taking place in digital form and thus lose all horror. Uninteresting in terms of content and also annoying because of the monsters compared to crack addicts. "
