Blue Island is a city in Cook County (Illinois) , United States . According to the 2010 census, the city had 22,556 residents. Blue Island was founded in the 1830s as a stop for settlers heading to Vincennes.

According to the 2010 census, Blue Island had 22,556 residents in 7,783 households and 5,194 families. The population density was 2247.9 inhabitants per square kilometer.
