The Bracht is a 31.5 kilometer long, northern and right tributary of the Kinzig in Vogelsberg and in the Hessian Main-Kinzig district .
Surname
The still young body of water from the source is called Hundsbach. From the "Saubrücke" one speaks of the Horstbach. From the bridge between the Birstein districts of Illnhausen and Kirchbracht to the mouth of the river, the river is then called Bracht.
The municipality of Brachttal in the Main-Kinzig district and the villages of Burgbracht and Kirchbracht are said to be named after the Bracht, but this is controversial in the case of Bracht.

history
Bracht has historically been the boundary between changing territories . On the lower reaches of Neudorf , it separated the Kingdom of Bavaria ( District Office Gemünden am Main ) on the left bank from the Grand Duchy of Hesse on the right bank. It also separated the Grand Duchy of Hessen-Darmstadt on the right from the Kingdom of Prussia on the left. Even after the Second World War, there was still an administrative separation in terms of belonging to different Hessian districts. However, common parishes and cross-border school districts have existed for centuries.
traffic
Largely parallel to, often at a greater distance from the Bracht and also running from Hartmannshain to Wächtersbach, the Vogelsberger Südbahnradweg, together with the national highway 276, forms an important and busy traffic axis along the Bracht.
