Hagnau Castle

The castle Hagnau is the residue of a dialed Castle in the building Salmannsweiler Route 2 in Hagnau in Bodenseekreis in Baden-Wuerttemberg .

The castle was built in the 12th century by the Lords of Hagnau, who were probably ministerials of the Diocese of Constance . 1152 a "Heinricus de Hagunowe" is mentioned. In 1265 the castle came to the diocese of Constance and served from 1285 to 1804 as the care yard of the Salem monastery . Around 1568 the office building "Salemer Klosterhof" was built. Restoration work took place from 1979 to 1982.

Remains of the former castle complex, such as the tower base with exceptionally large humpback blocks, have been preserved.
