CP football
CP football is a football sport from the field of cerebral paralysis for athletes with infantile cerebral palsy and other neurological diseases, including strokes and traumatic brain injuries . A team usually consists of seven players, one of whom is the goalkeeper . The ball may be played with the whole body with the exception of the arms and hands; mainly he is kicked with the foot. Only the goalkeeper (within his own penalty area ) - and also the field players when throwing in - are allowed to touch the ball with their hands.
history
The first international competition in CP football took place in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1978 as part of the third edition of the CPISRA games, the year in which the Cerebral Palsy International Sports and Recreation Association (CPISRA) was founded.
In 1982 the first world championships at the CPISRA World Games were held in Denmark, three years later, in 1985, the first regional tournament in Glasgow. In 1984 CP football was included in the Paralympic program: Belgium beats Ireland in the final. From 1988 to 1996 the Netherlands won all Paralympic tournaments. Four years later, in 2000, Russia beats Ukraine. In 2006 a European championship was played. Ukraine and Russia are currently dominating the competitions.
Until the end of 2014, CPISRA was responsible for staging this team sport under the name Football 7-a-side (German 7-a-side football). In 2015, the International Federation of Cerebral Palsy Football (IFCPF) was founded and all football competitions were taken over by CPISRA. These include world championships, international cup competitions, European championships, national tournaments, but also soccer tournaments at the World Games or the Parapan American Games. The tournament at the Paralympic Summer Games is organized by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).
Gameplay
The rules of the game for this sport are now set up by the IFCPF, formerly the CPISRA, and are played with modified FIFA rules. These changes include a smaller playing field that is 50 to 55 m wide and 60 to 75 m long. A soccer team consists of a total of 14 players, including substitute players, seven of whom are on the field at the same time, hence 7-a-side football. There are three possible substitutions. There is no offside rule in the game. Players may also use one hand to roll the ball in when throwing in . The game lasts two times 30 minutes with a 15-minute break.
In CP soccer, players are divided into sports classes based on their disabilities. These classes are:
- FT5 (C5)
- Athletes who have difficulty walking and running, but have no trouble standing or shooting the ball
- FT6 (C6)
- Athletes with control or coordination problems with their arms. These are especially prominent when running.
- FT7 (C7)
- Athlete with hemiparesis .
- FT8 (C8)
- Athletes with minimal disabilities, they must have legitimate criteria and obvious impairments in playing football.
Seven players per team from the four CP classes FT5 - FT8 are entitled to play at the same time. Players of all CP classes must be represented on the field for the entire season, including a player with class FT5 or FT6. Only one player with class FT8 may be represented.
