Mark John Calcavecchia (born June 12, 1960 in Laurel , Nebraska ) is an American professional golfer of the PGA TOUR . He belongs to the circle of major winners.

Career

The son of a bowling center owner, he became a professional golfer after attending the University of Florida in 1981 and joined the PGA TOUR in 1982 .

Calcavecchia achieved its greatest success in 1989 when it won the Open Championship , after play-off with the two Australians Greg Norman and Wayne Grady . In total, he has won thirteen PGA TOUR tournaments to date and numerous others worldwide.

Mark Calcavecchia was on the USA team at the Ryder Cup four times and was represented once in the Presidents Cup .

He and his two children from their first marriage live in West Palm Beach , Florida with his second wife, Brenda, who he has been married to since 2005 . His wife is one of the few female caddies and regularly carries his golf bag during tournaments.
