Until it was dissolved in May 2012, this was the organizer of the music festival of the same name, which took place in the Landskroner Festhalle until 2011. Today there is only the festival that took place in the Essigfabrik in Cologne in 2012 .

history

society

The founders of the association were inspired by festivals such as Rock am Ring , With Full Force and Summer Breeze . Christian Kreidt and Andreas Althammer cut themselves off from the concert agency La In Concert and founded the Circle Pit GbR in 2007. When the association was founded, the first plans for the first metal festival in the Ahr valley were made. Sponsors were found in a very short time, so that the first edition of the Circle Pit Festival could take place in the following year.

A year later, the Circle Pit eV was founded from the Circle Pit GbR. The aim of the association was, among other things, to ensure the promotion of local newcomer bands in the form of performance opportunities. A network of event organizers, club owners, event companies and studio owners was built up. The focus in 2008 was on the second edition of the Circle Pit Festival. Due to the high demand from local newcomer bands, the “Battle of the Bands” concert series was launched after the festival, in which the two best bands could win a place at the festival as well as a professional EP and music video production. This was held for the first time at the end of 2008. The concert series was already well known in 2009, so that newcomer bands from the surrounding federal states registered for the competition.

In 2010 the Circle Pit was further expanded to enable newcomer bands to perform concerts on a nationwide level. This is how the “Circle Pit Road Show” started. The concert tour took place mainly in locations in West Germany and neighboring countries. In the same year the free "Circle Pit Magazin" appeared for the first time in the greater Bonn / Koblenz area and was published in cooperation with the Lotto Foundation Rhineland-Palatinate . From 2010 onwards, “Circle Pit TV” was broadcast every Sunday on the local broadcaster RheinAhrTV. In 2011 the “Unplugged Kultour” section was organized in cooperation with the city of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler . Participating bands played four times unplugged on open-air shows in this concert series. The Circle Pit Roadshow could also be expanded and the band contest "Battle of the Bands" again attracted a large number of newcomer bands.

Circle Pit took part in an ING DiBa contest. The German metalcore band Heaven Shall Burn shot the promotional video for “Invictus” in the Landskroner Festhalle, in which the club is involved. The club stated that it would disband in 2012. The reason for the dissolution was that the chairmanship could no longer manage the continued operation of the association in the available free time. A member of the association has meanwhile opened his own concert agency, into which the “Circle Pit” brand is to be incorporated. This ensured that the Circle Pit Festival can continue to take place.

Circle Pit Festival

Although the association disbanded in 2012, the Circle Pit Festival, an indoor festival that has taken place every October since 2007, in the Landskroner Festhalle Heimersheim , a district of Bad Neuenahr, is not affected.

On July 21, 2008 and after almost a year of planning, Misery Speaks and We Are Wolf (at that time still Eat Unda Table ) played two well-known acts at the festival. Other bands on the premiere edition were Hatedrive , Saint Shelter , Discouraged and Nektra . Due to the high demand from local newcomer bands, the “Battle of the Bands” concert series was launched after the festival, in which the two best bands could win a place at the festival as well as a professional EP and music video production. This was held for the first time at the end of 2008. On April 19, 2009 Deadlock and Neaera made their debut at the festival in Heimersheim. In addition, Enraged By Beauty , Bloodattack , Democrazed , Saint Shelter and Cambodia played that evening. The Battle of the Bands was also able to gain enormous popularity. Newcomer bands from several federal states registered for the competition.

The third edition performed on October 23, 2010, We Butter the Bread with Butter , Final Prayer , Six Reasons to Kill , Bloodwork , Cocoon and Used to Remind . The line-up could be increased once more, so that a total of 12 bands played at the festival. Infected , Sober Truth , Stage Disaster , Hatedrive , We Are Wolf and Crazy D Nasty from Belgium also played as regional bands at the Circle Pit Festival.

On October 29, 2011, other big names appeared at the Circle Pit Festival, including Caliban , Haribo Macht Kinder Froh , Hordak and One Man Army and the Undead Quartet . The Danish band Illdisposed canceled a gig. The group Uneven Structure stepped in for Illdisposed . Other bands were again Bloodattack, Shigora , Prison Mind , Where We Fall , Kaocide , Guerilla , My City Burning and Used to Remind .

The festival was funded by several sponsors, including FUZE Magazine , EVM , Bitburger , the city of Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler and the Big Deal Records label . The Circle Pit Festival received a review in the Generalanzeiger (“Rhein-Ahr-Zeitung”) in 2008 and 2009 .

The hall, built in Heimersheim in 2003, is designed for 400 visitors. Since the Circle Pit association dissolved in spring 2012 and the festival has a new agency, a new venue was also sought, which is located in Cologne. The location is the vinegar factory where the Impericon Never Say Die! Tour made a guest appearance. The festival took place for the first time in the vinegar factory on December 22, 2012, one day after the Nemesis Festival , which is organized by the same agency. The 11 confirmed bands are Adept , His Statue Falls , Excrementory Grindfuckers , Awaken Demons , Devil In Me , Nasty , Angels and Enemies , Caliber Infinite , Korben Dallas , Soulbound and I Scream for Icecream .
