The Promi-Darts-WM is a television format designed as a darts competition by ProSieben , which is broadcast live from various German hotels. German celebrities and a top player in professional darts compete in only eight teams of two and since 2019 in six teams of two. The program is moderated by Christian Düren , Elmar Paulke acts as commentator .

mode

The game is played in the 501 Double Out mode , in which the points are thrown from 501 to 0 and the last hit must be on a double field. When a team member has thrown 3 darts, it's the other team's turn. When it is both teams' turn, the active team member changes. In the preliminary round, it takes two legs (rounds) to win, and three legs in the semi-finals and finals (two legs in 2018). The players compete in two groups according to the principle of everyone against everyone . The group leaders meet in the semi-finals on the group runners-up of the respective opposing group. The semi-final winners play for the title.

The third edition was held on January 5, 2019. Christian Düren took over the moderation from Joko Winterscheidt. In addition, the event was no longer held in Düsseldorf, but in the Maritim Hotel in Cologne . Elmar Paulke remained the commentator.

A rule change made it possible for celebrities in this edition to end legs with single fields. This should give them more influence in the course of the game.

reception

1.24 million (14.1%) of the 14 to 49 year olds or a total of 1.91 million (7.7%) watched the first edition on average. Joko Winterscheidt's moderation was criticized. He lost the overview and couldn't control the audience.

"Because the moderator Joko Winterscheidt looked like one of those policemen at a four-lane intersection in Bangkok, who lets the scooters, taxis and tuk-tuks buzzing around them pass in a surprisingly casual way."

“Joko seemed overwhelmed, sometimes lost track and let himself be disturbed. So he had to ask the director several times how the show would go on and in some cases could not drown out or calm down the loud audience. "

0.86 million (11.1%) of the 14 to 49 year olds or a total of 1.42 million (6.1%) watched the second edition on average.
