Dvinskoje ( Russian Двинское , German Warkallen , 1938 to 1945 Roloffseck , Lithuanian Varkalai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Gusev in Gusevsky District .
Geographical location
Dvinskoje is nine kilometers north of the city of Gussew (Gumbinnen) on a country road that connects Krasnogorskoje (Brakupönen / Roßfeld) with Jasnoye Pole (Packallnischken / Bergendorf (Ostpr.)) On regional road 27A-033 (ex A198 ). The next train station is Gussew on the Kaliningrad – Chernyshevskoye railway line of the former Prussian Eastern Railway to continue to Moscow .
history
The former Medien was founded before 1557 and existed through the centuries as a small village. In 1874 the newly established Niebudszen district was established , which - renamed the Niebudschen district in 1936, renamed the Herzogskirch district in 1938 - to 1945 and belonged to the Gumbinnen district in the Gumbinnen district of the Prussian province of East Prussia .
On June 3, 1938 - officially confirmed on July 16 - Warkallen was renamed "Roloffseck" for ideological reasons.
As a result of the war, the village came to the Soviet Union in 1945 along with all of northern East Prussia . Here it was given the Russian name "Dvinskoje" in 1950 and was assigned to the village soviet Krasnogorski selski Sowet in Gusew Rajon at the same time . From 2008 to 2013 Dvinskoye belonged to the rural municipality of Kubanovskoye selskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Gusew.

The majority was the population of Warkallen resp. Roloffsecks before 1945 Protestant denomination. The village was in the parish of the church Niebudszen (the place was called from 1936: Niebudschen, from 1938: Herzogskirch, today in Russian: Krasnogorskoje), which belonged to the church district Gumbinnen in the church province of East Prussia of the church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Dvinskoje lies in the catchment area of the newly established Evangelical Lutheran parish of the Salzburg Church in Gussew (Gumbinnen) . It is the parish center for the eastern region of the Kaliningrad Oblast and belongs to the Kaliningrad (Königsberg) provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
