Jarowoje ( Russian Яровое , German  Gertschen , 1938 to 1945 Gertenau , Lithuanian Gerčiai ) is a place in the Russian Oblast of Kaliningrad . It belongs to the local government unit Stadtkreis Gusev in Gusevsky District .

Geographical location

Jarowoje is located six kilometers southeast of the city of Gussew (Gumbinnen) and can be reached via a cul-de-sac that branches off the regional road 27A-011 Gussew– Gołdap (Goldap) in a south-westerly direction. Gusew is the next station on the Kaliningrad – Chernyshevskoye railway line of the former Prussian Eastern Railway to continue to Moscow .

The small village, once called Gertschen , was incorporated into the Vilkoshen district from 1874 (Russian: Gruschewka, no longer existing). This existed - from 1939 renamed the "Amt District Wolfseck" - until 1945 and belonged to the Gumbinnen district in the Gumbinnen administrative district of the Prussian province of East Prussia . 1938 Gertschen was in Gertenau renamed .

In 1945 the village came to the Soviet Union as a result of the war with all of northern East Prussia . In 1947 the place was given the Russian name "Jarowoje" and was assigned at the same time to the village soviet Lipowski selski Sowet in Gussew Rajon . From 2008 to 2013 Yarovoye belonged to the urban municipality of Gussewskoje gorodskoje posselenije and since then to the urban district of Gusew.

With its almost exclusively Protestant population, Gertschen resp. Gertenau parish before 1945 in the parish of the old town church in Gumbinnen (Gussew) . She was part of the church district Gumbinnen in the church province of East Prussia of the Church of the Old Prussian Union . Today Jarowoje is located in the catchment area of ​​the newly established Evangelical Lutheran congregation of the Salzburg Church in Gussew, which is assigned to the Kaliningrad (Königsberg) provost of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of European Russia .
