Eching am Ammersee is a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Landsberg am Lech and a member of the administrative community Schondorf am Ammersee .

Eching, which lies on the northern edge of the Ammersee , is directly adjacent to the large nature reserve “Ampermoos” and the wooded recreation area “Weingarten” directly on the Ammersee.

Community structure

Parts of the municipality are the parish village of Eching am Ammersee and the hamlet of Gießübl . There is only the district Eching am Ammersee.

history

Until the church is planted

Eching is first mentioned in 1065 as Ehingun , the name is derived from the personal name Echo.

Eching belonged to the Electorate of Bavaria and was part of the closed Hofmark Greifenberg of the Barons of Perfall . In the course of the administrative reforms in the Kingdom of Bavaria , today's municipality was created with the municipal edict of 1818 .

Between 1988 and 2019 the community grew from 1,265 to 1,709 by 444 inhabitants or 35.1%.

Municipal council

In the 2014 local elections, the CSU and the civic bloc stood separately for the first time in 36 years. The group Menschen für Menschen was no longer running. The citizen block provided nine council members (including the second and third mayors) and the CSU three council members.

The municipal council, which has been in office since May 2020, consists of seven members of the civic block and five of the CSU. Siegfried Luge is still the first mayor. The turnout in the 2020 local elections was 77.1%.

Economy including agriculture and forestry

According to official statistics, there were 83 employees at the place of work in the manufacturing sector and 23 in the trade and transport sector. In other economic sectors, 133 people were employed at the place of work subject to social security contributions. There were a total of 482 employees at the place of residence subject to social security contributions. There were 14 companies in the manufacturing sector and one company in the main construction sector. In addition, in 1999 there were 13 farms with an agricultural area of ​​303 ha, of which 178 ha were arable land.

The municipal tax receipts in 1999 amounted to the equivalent of 938 T €, of which the trade tax receipts (net) amounted to the equivalent of 53 T €.

Leisure and retail

In the past few years the community has developed very strongly. In addition to a large sports center, it now has a shopping and health center with several specialist doctors and, since October 6, 2014, also has a pharmacy.

In 2015 the Echinger Festival took place for the ninth time. The 10th Echinger Festwoche had to be postponed by one year to 2021 due to the Covid 19 pandemic

Due to the falling number of pupils, there has been no elementary school in Eching for several years. The students are now being taught in Windach. The school building in Echingen has been used as refugee accommodation since the beginning of 2016.
