2009 World Speed ​​Skating Sprint Championship

The 40th World Sprint Speed Skating Championships was on 17 and 18 January 2009 at the Russian Moscow ( Ice Palace Krylatskoye discharged). In 2005 the ice rink was the venue for the all-around world championship . Since then, the Speed ​​Skating World Cup has made a stop in the hall once a season. The long distance races over 1500/5000 meters for women and 1500/10000 meters for men took place.

In the Sprint World Championship, the 500 and 1,000 m distances are covered over two days each. If an athlete starts on the inside track on the first day, he starts on the outside track on the second day. The 24 best women and men after three routes qualify for the fourth route.
