The Krylatskoje Ice Palace ( Russian Ледовый дворец "Крылатское" ) is an ice rink in the Krylatskoje district of Moscow , located on the Moskva River .

history

The hall was the first speed skating arena in Russia , next to the Kometa in Kolomna , the Uralskaya Molnija in Chelyabinsk and from 2012 the Adler Arena in Sochi . In addition to speed skating , the multi-purpose hall is primarily used for bandy .

After the Olympic Winter Games in Nagano in 1998 , initial plans began to build a first-class ice rink in Russia, where the national leaders could train at the highest level. In 2003, construction work began on the "Krylatskoje Sports Complex", which, among other things, hosted the 1980 Summer Olympics .

The first major sporting event was the 2004 Fed Cup in tennis . At the 2006/07 Endurance Long Distance World Cup , Tobias Schneider only narrowly missed his first World Cup victory over 10,000 meters. He was 1.42 seconds behind the winner Enrico Fabris . The time of 13:16:36 was enough to lower the German record .

In 2007 the speed skating World Cup should take place here. Due to the discovery of a manufacturing defect in the hall, the event had to be canceled at short notice. As a replacement, the World Cup was handed over to Kolomna ( Kometa ) 150 km away .

At the Junior World Championships 2010 the Dutch juniors ran a junior world record with a total of 3.07.88 over 6 laps around Lotte van Beek , Roxanne van Hemert and Yvonne Nauta . Also the juniors from Norway around Håvard Holmefjord Lorentzen , Simen player Nilsen and Sverre Lunde Pedersen ran a junior world record with 3,50.02 over 8 laps.
