The Davos Ice Stadium is an open-air natural ice rink in Davos in the canton of Graubünden in Switzerland . Located in the center of Davos, the 18,000 m² rink is the largest natural ice rink in Europe. Speed skating , ice hockey , curling and, since 2014, bandy again are practiced on the ice rink .

The runway is at an altitude of 1536 meters above sea level. The low air resistance at this altitude, the good water quality and the optimal weather conditions made the track the record track for many years. At the same time, it is also known for weather changes, with strong sunlight and a hair dryer , which makes ice skating practically impossible. Next to the natural ice rink is the Vaillant Arena , home of the local ice hockey club HC Davos .

Internationally, the all-around world championship took place in 1898 for the first time. On February 7, 1898, Peder Østlund set the first world record over 1500 meters. Ard Schenk ran the 1500 meters for the first time under two minutes. Over 90 official world records were set here in the following 100 years. The last major championship was the European all-around championship in 1972. Of the 19 men's decisions, twelve titles went to the Norwegians .

Davos has hosted the Speed Skating World Cup eleven times and, with the Vikingskipet in Hamar , is the sixth most popular venue. In 1913 the European Championship in Bandy was held in the stadium .
