Overview
With a land area of 482 hectares, Eschenbach is one of the smallest communities in the Göppingen district , but due to its location in the Voralb area, the place has developed from a farming community to one of the most popular residential communities in the district with around 2200 inhabitants.
Neighboring communities
Eschenbach is bordered by the town of Göppingen in the north and northeast , the municipality of Schlat in the south-east and the municipality of Heiningen in the south and along the entire west side of the municipality , in whose area south-west of the rest of Eschenbach's area there is also the rather small Eschenbach municipality exclave around the former Lotenberg castle together with the hamlet of Lotenberg , which is in the settlement context with the hamlet of the same name Heiningen. All neighbors are also in their own district of Göppingen .
Since 1970, the community has formed the Voralb community administration association together with the neighboring community of Heiningen.
Community structure
Eschenbach includes the village of Eschenbach, the hamlet of Lotenberg (also part of the Heiningen community ) and the Iltishof homestead, as well as the abandoned villages of Hag and Bürstenhof.

history
Early history
The probable beginning of settlement for our place lies between the 9th and 13th centuries. This is what the name Eschenbach suggests. Eschenbach is therefore a settlement on "a brook filled with ash trees". The eponymous Eschenbach rises below the “White Wall” at the Fuchseck and is still largely an open local creek today.
Eschenbach emerged as a branch settlement from the original village of Heiningen - the original Alemannic settlement of the Huno clan.
The first documentary mention does not refer to the place, but to the church on the Lotenberg. In 1228, a priest, and thus a church, is mentioned on the Lotenberg in a document from the prince abbey of St. Gallen . This pilgrimage church, consecrated to the Apostle Peter, was only demolished in 1814 because it was dilapidated. The group of houses on the Lotenberg still gives the impression of a castle building. A Tecksche Amtsburg ( Lotenberg Castle ) stood here in the 13th century , but it soon fell into disrepair. A remnant of the castle hill and a rampart are their minor traces.
middle Ages
In particular, Eschenbach was first mentioned in 1379 in a sales document from the Counts of Helfenstein. It changed hands several times and was finally divided from 1476: two thirds, including Iltishausen (Iltishof) and Lotenberg, belonged to the Barons of Liebenstein, the rest was owned by the Adelberg Monastery - after the Reformation of the Duchy of Württemberg since 1534. It was not until 1789 that the Liebensteiners also sold their property in Eschenbach to Württemberg. Eschenbach was administered by the Adelberg Monastery Office until 1867 and then belonged to the Göppingen Regional Office.
20th century
The place was dominated by agriculture until after the Second World War . It was mainly cattle breeding on which the village lived - cattle, horses and especially sheep, since the arable land was not very productive. However, herb cultivation is mentioned as early as the 16th century, to which the people of Eschenbach owe their nickname "Krautbäuch". Fruit growing also played an important role, particularly encouraged by Pastor Johann Christian Engel, the father of Dr. Theodor Engel . During his more than thirty years of activity in the village, a large belt of fruit trees was created, which was particularly striking on the Kuhnberg.

Protestant church
The previous Evangelical parish of Eschenbach merged with the previous Evangelical parish of Heiningen to form the Evangelical parish of Eschenbach-Heiningen on December 1, 2019 . and belongs to the church district of Göppingen , but centuries ago it belonged to the church of Lotenberg , a hamlet that is now part of Eschenbach. This was divided between Württemberg and the Liebensteiners . The parish church in Lotenberg, first mentioned in 1228, called St. Peter from 1586, came with the castle to Württemberg in 1379, to Hans Dachenhausen in 1420 and was donated by him to the Göppingen Spital in 1434. In 1814 the church was demolished and the parish relocated to Eschenbach, where a separate church without a choir had already been built in 1739. This church on the Bühl was expanded in 1862 and the altar window with a glass painting by Rudolf Yelin the Elder was renovated in 1963 . J. (motifs: Descent from the Cross, Resurrection).

Economy and Infrastructure
Established businesses
Eschenbach has a nationally praised facility, the Göppingen-Voralb business park, an intermunicipal, around 29 hectare business park belonging to the association partners Göppingen, Heiningen and Eschenbach, which offers almost a thousand jobs.
This is largely unrestricted commercial space in accordance with Section 8 of the Ordinance on the Structural Use of the Land (Building Use Ordinance BauNVO); the maximum values of § 17 BauNVO with regard to the extent of structural use can be achieved. As a usage restriction, the development plan stipulates that only natural gas may be used to generate heating and process heat. In the interest of a generous planting of the business park, greening measures can be coordinated with those interested in settling on a case-by-case basis.
traffic
A district road leads to the two neighboring towns of Heiningen and Ursenwang . There is also a community road to Schlat. At the northern end of the built-up area of Eschenbach there was a stop of the Voralbbahn .
Education and culture
Kindergartens
The two-tier kindergarten "Noah's Ark" in Sudetenstrasse 9, built by the civil parish in 1982/83 (together with a school shelter for 100 people in the basement), is located in the Theodor Engel parish hall. The civil parish has transferred the operating law and responsibility to the Protestant parish.
Since 1992, the middle-class community has had another two-tier kindergarten, the "Wirbelwind" kindergarten in Kirchstrasse 2. This means that the community is always in a position to offer every three-year-old child a kindergarten place in the community, even if the number of children increases.
To coordinate administrative and organizational issues at both kindergartens, there is a joint kindergarten committee made up of representatives of the sponsors, parents and the educational staff.
schools
The primary school at Bahnhofstrasse 12, which was comprehensively renovated and expanded between 1992 and 1994 at a cost of around 1.43 million euros, includes primary school grades 1 to 4; over 100 pupils are currently attending primary school. Since the 1998/1999 school year, the municipality of Eschenbach and the primary school have been offering core-time care, the so-called Reliable Primary School (VGS), on their premises . In this facility, the primary school children can be looked after before the actual start of school from 7 a.m. and after school until 1 p.m.
The secondary school is located in the neighboring community of Heiningen, both schools are funded by the Voralb community administration association based in Heiningen. All kinds of secondary schools are available in Göppingen.
Youth music school
As part of a public law agreement, the Eschenbach municipality cooperates with the Göppingen youth music school, which promotes early musical education and basic training.
Regular events
The annual Cabbage Festival draws attention to the previously significant herb cultivation.
Sons and daughters of the church
