The 2008/09 women's ice hockey Bundesliga season was the 21st Bundesliga season for women in Germany. The league was carried out by the German Ice Hockey Federation .

Before the season

SV Brackwede , the champions of the 2nd division north, renounced promotion. Also on the part of the champions of the Landesliga Bayern and the ice hockey Baden-Württemberg-Liga ( ESV Kaufbeuren and ESV Hügelsheim ) there was no interest in promotion, so that only nine participants submitted a report for the league.

As in the previous season , the first in the table is also German champion after the season. In contrast to the previous season, the last two teams are relegated. The champion of the 2nd division north and the winner from the relegation games Bavaria / Baden-Württemberg can advance.

The OSC Berlin was able to intercept the reigning German champions ESC Planegg / Würmtal in the last part of the championship and achieve the championship title of the season 2008/2009. The direct comparison between the two teams ended with the same point and goal (OSC Berlin - ESC Planegg / Würmtal 5: 3 and 0: 2). The OSC Berlin finally prevailed with the better goal difference.
