Venues

When the groups were drawn, China was not seeded and was drawn to Group A with hosts Canada, against whom the opening game will be played. Other opponents are New Zealand and World Cup newcomers Netherlands. According to their positions in the FIFA world rankings before the World Cup, this is the most balanced group: China is in 16th place, the Canadians in 8th, the Netherlands in 12th and New Zealand in 17th; Group cut = 13.25.

There were previously 25 games against Canada, of which 14 were won, five ended in a draw (with one loss on penalties ) and six were lost. In the opening game against the hosts, China kept the 0-0 up until the 90th minute, then Zhao Rong fouled Canadian striker Adriana Leon in her own penalty area. Christine Sinclair converted the due penalty in stoppage time to 1-0 for Kanade. Against the newcomer to the World Cup Netherlands, the record of 10 games was positive: 5 wins, 4 draws and only one defeat in the previous game on August 24, 2011. This game was also 0-0 for a long time, but this time the Chinese succeeded 1-0 winning goal in stoppage time. Previously, New Zealand had been played 16 times with 13 wins and three losses. The two separated for the first time: In a game with changing leaders, the Chinese defended the 2-2 in the end, with the Chinese coach Hao Wei being relegated to the stands in stoppage time, and thus moved into the knockout stage as second in the group. Round one.

In the round of 16, the Chinese met the surprise team from Cameroon . China had to fly back to Edmonton, while Cameroon played the last group game in Edmonton. Before that there was no game against the "Lionesses", but the record against African teams ( Ivory Coast , Ghana , Nigeria and South Africa ) was positive with 11 wins, one draw and only one defeat. China last played against an African team in 2009 (5-0 against South Africa), while Cameroon first played against an Asian team, in the preliminary round against defending champions Japan and only just lost 2-1, but were the better team in the second half .

Due to the narrow victory in the round of 16, the team met the USA in the quarter-finals on June 26, 2015 in Ottawa and lost just 0: 1.
