draw

Chinese women play venues

For the World Cup group draw that took place on December 8, 2018, China was allocated Pot 3 based on its placement in the FIFA world rankings on December 7, 2018. The team could meet world champions USA, Germany or host France. Due to the mode, she could not face any of the four other teams of the Asian Association. Ultimately, the team was drawn from the former German national coach Steffi Jones of the German team. In addition, Spain and South Africa were drawn into the only group without a current continental champion.

China is the third most common opponent of German women. In 30 games so far, the Chinese have won eight times. Six games ended in a draw, 16 were lost, including 8-0, the biggest defeat ever. At the world championships, both met once, in the semifinals in 1995 and China lost 1-0. Most recently, they both met in the quarter-finals of the Olympic Games and China also lost this game 1-0. The last victory came on March 1, 2006 in Homburg , where the Chinese won 1-0. There were only two games against Spain, which were lost 3-1 and 2-1 on home soil in September 2015. There were two big home wins against South Africa in September 2003 (8-0 and 13-0, the highest win of an Asian team against an African team), a 5-0 win in Amsterdam in July 2009 and a 2-0 win in the 2016 Olympic preliminary round.
