draw

South African team venues

For the World Cup group draw that took place on December 8, 2018, South Africa, like the other two African teams, was allocated to Pot 4 based on its placement in the FIFA world rankings of December 7, 2018. The team could thus be drawn as world champions USA, hosts France or Germany. Ultimately, the draw resulted in a first clash with Germany and Spain and the fifth game against the People's Republic of China. The first four matches with the Asians were all lost, including a 0:13 in September 2003 - the biggest defeat of an African against an Asian team. The last game in the preliminary round of the 2016 Olympic Games, however, was only lost 2-0. So far there has only been one game of the juniors against Germany, which was lost 1:10 at the U-17 World Cup 2010 . The current German national team players Melanie Leupolz and Lena Petermann (2 goals each) as well as Kristin Demann and Lina Magull and the South African national team goalkeeper Kaylin Swart and Jermaine Seoposenwe (1 goal) were used.
