This article covers the Thai women's national soccer team at the 2019 women's soccer world cup in France . Thailand entered the finals for the second time and, like four years earlier, were eliminated after the group stage. The team suffered the highest defeat in a World Cup game in their first game against defending champions USA with 0:13.

qualification

As before, the Asian Cup , which was held in Jordan in 2018, served as qualification for the World Cup finals for the Asian teams . Thailand had to qualify for the championship at a tournament in the Palestinian Territories in April 2017. Opponents were the Palestinian Autonomous Areas and the Republic of China / Taiwan. The teams from Guam and Lebanon who were also drawn withdrew before the tournament. Thailand first won against Palestine 6-0 and then the game against the Republic of China / Taiwan 1-0, so that the Thais qualified for the Asian Cup.

National coach Kanyanat Chetthabutr, nominated for the championship, has 23 players, including 16 players who were already part of the squad for the 2015 World Cup.

The Thai team lost 4-0 to China in their first game . This was followed by a 6-1 win against hosts Jordan . In the final group game, the Philippines were defeated 3-1, which means that the team qualified for the semi-finals and thus as the second team after hosts France for the World Cup. The opponent in the semifinals was Australia . With an own goal by Kanjanaporn Saengkoon , the Thais fell behind in the 17th minute, but were able to equalize three minutes later through Kanjana Sung-Ngoen and take the lead in the 63rd minute through Rattikan Thongsombut . In the 72nd minute, Wilaiporn Boothduang received the yellow-red card and when they were outnumbered they conceded the equalizer in the first minute of stoppage time. After a goalless overtime there was a penalty shoot-out , in which only Ainon Phancha of the Thai women could convert a penalty, while their teammates Sunisa Srangthaisong , Silawan Intamee and Pitsamai Sornsai missed, as only two Australian players could not convert their penalty, Thailand lost the penalty shoot-out with 1: 3.

In the game for third place, the opening opponent China was the opponent again and the Thais lost this game, this time with 1: 3.

In the tournament and the two qualifying games, only the second substitute goalkeeper was not used, six players took part in all seven games.

The Thai players scored a total of 18 goals and also benefited from an own goal by a Palestinian player in their first qualifying match. The most goals for the Thai team were scored by Kanjana Sung-Ngoen (5, including one in qualifying) and Suchawadee Nildhamrong (4, including two in qualifying). A total of seven Thai players scored in the tournament and qualification.
