The Gauliga mid 1940/41 was the eighth season of the Gauliga Mitte as the top division of the Gau Mitte (Gau VI).
The championship was secured with a seven point lead (for the fourth time in total), the 1st SV 03 Jena ahead of its era opponent SV Dessau 05 . The defending champion from the Kernbergen qualified again for the final round of the German championship , but was eliminated there after the group phase as second in the table.
The only relegation rank was occupied by the SC 1910 Apolda . The Hallesche FC Wacker 1900 , the Dessauer SV 98 and the SC Erfurt 1895 rose from the 1st class (formerly district classes ), and as the relegation third-placed from a decided next-season league expansion, 10 participating clubs as usual , benefited late.

Promotion lap

Only after the promotion round had been completed, the Gauliga middle season 1941/42 was increased to ten participating clubs. Thus, all three participants received the direct right of promotion. In this regard, only the last placed Gauliga, SC Apolda , rose. The Dessauer SV 98 was only granted the right to start shortly before the start of the relegation round, as the title holder status of 1st class Magdeburg-Anhalt 1940/41 was controversial for a long time due to an objection. The FV Fortuna Magdeburg was declared runner-up and had to do without.
