The 1st class Halle-Merseburg 1942/43 was the tenth and last season of the second-class district class Halle-Merseburg , which has been functioning as a substructure for the Gauliga Mitte since 1933 . The last title holders in the class were the KSG-Reichsbahner and VfL-Mannen from Merseburg, who merged just a year ago. Followed by the SV Unionern from Sandersdorf-Brehna. Since a total of nineteen game results of the season could not be determined, specific answers must be given regarding the last relegation place and the championship question. On the other hand, no reliable statements can be made on all other precise table placements. The only thing that is certain is that all clubs from the compact midfield were able to secure relegation early on, as Merseburg 01 Prussia missed the necessary level of play. In the third week of February 1943, the military sports club MSV Torgau withdrew its team from ongoing game operations because they were unable to play all the competitive games due to personnel reasons. Front-line missions by the players in the fourth year of the war took their noticeable toll. The second promoted team, FC Wittenberg 07 , did well, however, and finished in a respectable fourth place at the end of the season. The newly formed "war game community" consisting of Rot-Weiß and VfL Bitterfeld benefited from the withdrawal of the Torgau residents and was thus able to establish itself above the 2nd grade next year . For the first time, the usual promotion round of all district champions of the sports district did not take place. How the further division structure below the Gauliga was designed is not known because it has not yet been reliably documented. The KSG Reichsbahn / VfL Merseburg but qualified securitized first the promotion round, besides Prussia 02 castle , for Gauliga season 1943/44.
