The district class Halle-Merseburg 1937/38 was the fifth season of the second-class district class Halle-Merseburg, which had been the substructure of the Gauliga Mitte (VI) since 1933 . After last year's runner-up title, VfL 1911 Bitterfeld won the season in front of SV Halle 98 and the repeatedly convincing SpVg Zeitz 1910 . Both newcomers, both SV Holzweißig and Borussia 02 Halle, achieved notable places. FC from Ammendorf and VfL 1912 Merseburg completed the safe midfield of the class. FV Schwarz-Gelb Weißenfels also completed a balanced series and relegated the richly decorated and renowned Gauliga relegated FC Wacker 1900 , who, after decades of success, now had to act in a second class due to politically-induced squad thinning. VfB Zscherndorf and the Merseburg Prussians, who had just managed to save themselves from falling into the regional class in a splendid final sprint last season, had to return to the district classes. Both should be replaced in the coming season by the champions of the districts Jahn and Kursachsen , Tuspo 1919 Leuna and TuSB Piesteritz , who deservedly held their own against their three competitors in the summer relegation round. The Bitterfeld master players later failed in the promotion round to the Gauliga, which happened to the representatives of the BK Halle-Merseburg against their opponents from Magdeburg-Anhalt and Erfurt-Thuringia in a total of 10 attempts, so that they also belonged to the district class in the next season. Due to this, this was inevitably also carried out with a club. Statistically striking this season were the extremely negative goal difference of the Holzweißiger in 5th place and the extremely positive goal difference of the Weißenfelser Schwarz-Gelben in 7th place, which in this paradoxical form can only be stated very rarely.
