The 1st class Magdeburg-Anhalt 1940/41 was the eighth season of the second-class district class Magdeburg-Anhalt , which had previously acted as a substructure for the Gauliga Mitte since 1933 . Since the league was to be increased to ten participating clubs again for the next season, this game year was played without relegated teams. The championship was won by Dessauer SV 98 , which only enriched the class as a newcomer at the beginning of the season. Tied on points with the favorite FV Fortuna Magdeburg , the Muldestädter captured their great success. However, this was not really clear right after the end of the season, as the game committee still had to negotiate a game evaluation appeal from the men from the "Hellas area". Then the title was awarded late, but in favor of the Dessau 98ers at the Green Table and the joy in the southeast of the district was great. Staßfurt 09 and Wacker Bernburg offered a passable season performance. Oschersleben and the 99 Prussians from Königsweg fell somewhat behind, but had little to do with the two rear seats. Viktoria from Zielitzer Strasse kept VfB Groß-Ottersleben in check. VfB then benefited from the fact that there was no relegation this season for the reasons mentioned above. As a promotion applicant to the 1st class , only three clubs competed, which were also allowed to make the way to the higher division this season, collectively in threes. SV 07 Bernburg and SpVgg 04 Thale then kept the emerging FC Preußen Burg at a distance. Altmark representative FC Viktoria 09 Stendal decided not to take part in the promotion round because, due to the war-related decimated squad alternatives and costly travel conditions, they could not provide a competitive team for the next season.

a Note: The game [Wacker Bernburg vs. Fortuna Magdeburg 5: 2], from March 30, 1941, was rated by the Reichsfachamt in the last instance on May 4, 1941 with 0: 0 goals and 0: 0 points. Bernburg used a youth player who was not eligible to play, who was also banned. In the first instance in April, the fortunes were awarded the victory, the existence of which was then revised again. With this, Dessauer SV 98 was officially declared champion and was allowed to take part in the promotion games tothe middle division (Gauliga middle). As a decisive criterion, the plus points account was ultimately used, due to which the Dessau team benefited from the better goal ratio. Since Fortuna Magdeburg has already played a Gauliga promotion game in the meantime, this late decision itself had a serious impact on this elimination. Two more games [Oschersleben vs. Ottersleben] and [Bernburg vs. Oschersleben], were rated with 0-0 goals and 2-0 points for the hosts. In the first case, the guest did not appear, in the second case, the visiting team waived the points to be awarded in advance, despite the event (1: 1).
