Venues of the district class Erfurt-Thuringia 1937/38 (blue = champions / yellow = relegated) |
The district class Erfurt-Thuringia 1937/38 was the fifth season of the second-class district class Thuringia, which served as a substructure for the Gauliga Mitte . Once again, the league was completed in round-robin mode with a return leg. Since there was no Thuringian relegation from the Gauliga in the last series, but SC Erfurt 95 found its way into this, this year's district class season was held with only eleven clubs, so that one team was always free of play.
The SV 08 Steinach won this year's season very much with twelve points ahead of the surprisingly strong triumphant FSV Rositz. The SC Apolda completed the top trio. Steinach was then also able to successfully organize the promotion round to the Gauliga in mid-1938 /39 and thus rose again to the Gauliga after two years of abstinence. At the end of the season, the SpVgg Zella-Mehlis 06 , with no chance in the district class Henneberg , and the Eintracht 08 Altenburg, a little unhappy, but still athletically fair, relegated to the district class Osterland . As can be seen below, the places that were thus freed up were taken through the respective winnings in a promotion round that was for the first time divided into two with three clubs per group and that was played with only one home game for all clubs. The SV 04 Breitungen ( Henneberg ) and the 1st SV Gera 04 ( Osterland ) prevailed as the lap winners. Both coincidentally from the same circles into which both class relegated athletes had failed.
