Venues of the district class Erfurt-Thuringia 1938/39 (blue = champions / yellow = relegated / gray = French withdrawal) |
The district class Erfurt-Thuringia 1938/39 was the sixth season of the second-class district class Thuringia, which served as a substructure for the Gauliga Mitte (Gau VI) . Again, the class was played in the usual round-robin tournament mode with 11 participating clubs, because the SC Erfurt 95 , coming from the Gauliga, compensated for the Steinacher rise. This year's league won almost sensationally, the promoted 1. SV Gera . And that with a six point lead over the Gauliga relegated SC Erfurt 95 and SC Apolda . Since the Geraer also successfully made the promotion round to the Gauliga in mid-1939/40 , the club managed the brilliant march through from the provincial district class to the dazzling Gauliga. Due to financial misconduct, the former large caliber of Central German football, SV 08 Steinach and 1. FC 07 Lauscha, were excluded from the upcoming Gauliga season. Since only three Gauliga relegated from Thuringia were recorded, three clubs had to relegate to the district classes this season. It hit VfB 09 Pößneck ( Weimar ), FC Wacker 1910 Gera ( Osterland ) and VfB 1910 Apolda ( East Thuringia ). Rositz and Breitungen withdrew their game permissions due to a war-related squad shortage. The SpVgg Neuhaus-Igelshieb and the 1st Suhler SV 06 prevailed as the respective winners in the relegation promotion round and filled the BK contingent for the next season.
