Originally founded as the Nuremberg University of Applied Sciences , it was given the right to use the nickname Georg Simon Ohm . On October 1st, 2007 the name was changed to Georg-Simon-Ohm-Hochschule Nürnberg (University of Applied Sciences) . On March 12, 2013, the Bavarian Council of Ministers decided to rename it to “ Technical University ”, which came into force on October 1, 2013 , together with the Deggendorf , Ingolstadt and Regensburg / Amberg-Weiden universities of applied sciences .

The library of the Technical University of Nuremberg Georg Simon Ohm belongs to the university .

Niels Oberbeck became President of the TH in mid-March 2020 as the successor to Michael Braun.

Current

  • On July 29, 2005, the groundbreaking ceremony for the new building for the applied chemistry department (T-Bau) on the corner of Prinzregentenufer and Wassertorstraße was carried out. The new building, costing around 20.8 million euros, was developed by the architects Grabow * Hofmann and completed in 2008. Since 2008 the A-building at Keßlerplatz has been fundamentally renovated in two steps. The first half was completed at the beginning of 2010, the second half in the winter semester 2012/2013.
  • The TH Nürnberg is a member of MedienCampus Bayern , the umbrella organization for media education and training in Bavaria.
  • The TH Nürnberg is one of the founding partners of the Energie Campus Nürnberg , the largest energy research facility in Northern Bavaria.
  • The Ohm University took part in a nationwide competition for the title of "Technical University". In March 2013 she was officially awarded this title as the winner.
  • The TH Nürnberg has won the "innovative university" competition and is therefore building the "Leonardo Center" from 2019, in which interdisciplinary research is carried out on projects (for example on "the car as a communication platform of the future" or "planning sustainable ideas") .
