Location and dates
Gravina di Catania is 14 km north of Catania on the southern slope of Mount Etna . The inhabitants mainly work in agriculture and in the processing of various stones.
The neighboring municipalities are Catania , Mascalucia , Sant'Agata li Battiati and Tremestieri Etneo .
history
The exact year of foundation is unknown. In 1646 the place at that time became the Principality of Valguarnera. The name is derived from the long-standing feudal lords, the Gravina di Catania.
