Viagrande is a city of Metropolitan city of Catania in the Region of Sicily in Italy with 8848 inhabitants (December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Viagrande is 13 kilometers north of Catania on the southern slope of Mount Etna . The residents mainly work in agriculture (fruit and wine) and tourism.

The neighboring municipalities are Aci Bonaccorsi , Aci Sant'Antonio , San Giovanni la Punta , Trecastagni and Zafferana Etnea .

history

The year of foundation is unknown. The name is explained by the location on the Via Grande to Messina .
