Linguaglossa is a city in the Italian metropolitan city of Catania in Sicily with 5199 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Linguaglossa is 49 kilometers north of Catania on the northeast slope of Mount Etna . The residents mainly work in agriculture and forestry.

The neighboring municipalities are Calatabiano , Castiglione di Sicilia , Piedimonte Etneo and Sant'Alfio .

history

The city was partly built on the lava flow on the northeast slope of Mount Etna from 1566.
