Scordia is a city of Metropolitan city of Catania in the Region of Sicily in Italy with 16,701 inhabitants (December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Scordia is 44 km southwest of Catania . The residents mainly work in agriculture and citrus processing.

The neighboring municipalities are Lentini ( SR ) and Militello in Val di Catania .

history

The area was already inhabited by people in prehistoric times. The current place was founded in 1628. Part of the village was destroyed in the 1693 earthquake.
