Groveland is a city in Lake County in the US state of Florida with 8729 inhabitants (as of 2010).

geography

Groveland borders the city of Mascotte to the west . The city is about 30 km south of Tavares and about 40 km west of Orlando .

Demographic data

According to the 2010 census, the then 8,729 inhabitants were distributed over 3,143 households. The population density was 1283.7 inh / km². 65.6% of the population identified themselves as whites, 17.0% as African American , 0.1% as Indians and 2.5% as Asian Americans . 9.5% said they belonged to another ethnic group and 4.3% to several ethnic groups. 25.9% of the population were Hispanics or Latinos .

In 2010 children under 18 years of age and 22.1% of all households lived in 47.5% of all households with persons at least 65 years of age. 79.0% of the households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or one parent with offspring). The average household size was 3.04 people and the average family size was 3.36 people.

32.7% of the population were younger than 20 years, 27.5% were 20 to 39 years old, 25.0% were 40 to 59 years old, and 14.7% were at least 60 years old. The mean age was 34 years. 49.8% of the population were male and 50.2% were female.

The median annual income was $ 49,444, with 10.7% of the population living below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 87.62% of the population, 10.99% spoke Spanish and 1.39% spoke German .

On October 5, 2006, the Edge House was inscribed on the National Register of Historic Places .
