Hans Georg Michelbach (born May 3, 1949 in Gemünden am Main ) is a German politician ( CSU ) and entrepreneur. He has been a member of the German Bundestag since 1994 . In the Bundestag, he acts as chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the Committee of Finance and a member of the Group Executive Board. He is Deputy Federal Chairman of the SME and Economic Union and was chairman of the SME Union for 18 years until 2018 .

Life and work

After attending the Franz von Erthal high school in Lohr am Main , which he left after completing secondary school, Michelbach completed an apprenticeship as a merchant in wholesale and foreign trade . After the subsequent visit to a college of Business Michelbach worked as executive assistant in a trading company. In 1972 he joined his parents' business and founded the wholesale and foreign trade company Michelbach KG in Gemünden am Main. In addition to his parliamentary diet, he continues to work as a personally liable partner of MIBEG Investment International, a project developer in the real estate industry, in Bad Soden-Salmünster . This results in regular profit income, according to the highest income level 10 of the German Bundestag , with a minimum of more than € 250,000 annually. He is one of the members of the German Bundestag with the highest income outside of the members' allowance .

Michelbach is married and has three daughters.

Michelbach is a member of the executive committee of the Confederation of German Employers' Associations (BDA) and the Main Association of German Retailers .

Michelbach was chairman of the CSU district association Main-Spessart from 1990 to 2002 and has been a member of the CSU executive committee since 1998. He has also been Deputy Federal Chairman of the SME and Economic Union of the CDU / CSU since 2000 and was state chairman of the SME Union (MU) until 2018 . In December 2018, he handed over the state chairmanship of the MU to the former Bavarian Minister of Economic Affairs, Franz Pschierer .

Michelbach has been a member of the German Bundestag since 1994 and has been on the board of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group since 2000 . From 2005 to 2009 he was Chairman of the ERP Economic Plans Subcommittee of the Committee on Economics and Technology. Since 2009 he has been chairman of the CDU / CSU parliamentary group in the finance committee. Since 2013 he has also been Deputy Chairman of the CSU regional group.

Hans Michelbach entered the Bundestag in 1994 and 1998 via the Bavarian State List and since 2002 as a directly elected member of the Coburg constituency . In the 2013 federal election , he received 50.1% of the first votes .

Michelbach is a member of the European Union parliamentary group of the German Bundestag . Member of the executive board of the German Trade Association (HDE).

Public offices

Michelbach was first third mayor from 1978 to 1982 and first mayor of the city of Gemünden am Main from 1982 to 1994.

Awards and honors

Michelbach was awarded an honorary doctorate by the University of Kiev . He is criticized for the incorrect use of the title according to the Bavarian University Act without specifying the origin.

In 2009 he received the Bavarian Order of Merit and in 2012 the Federal Order of Merit .
