Siegfried Walch (* 8. April 1984 in Bad Reichenhall ) is a German local politician of the CSU and since May 1, 2014 District Administrator of the district of Traunstein . He won the 2014 municipal elections in the runoff election against Sepp Konhäuser (SPD). In 2020 he was confirmed in his office.

Life

Siegfried (Sebastian) Walch was born on April 8, 1984 in Bad Reichenhall as the son of Siegfried Walch and Anna Walch. He attended elementary school in Inzell . From 1994 he switched to the Chiemgau-Gymnasium in Traunstein, later to the Staatliche Reiffenstuel-Realschule Traunstein, where he passed his secondary school leaving certificate in 2002 .

Walch completed an apprenticeship as a wholesaler in Salzburg. In 2006, he completed his degree in business administration with a focus on vehicle engineering at the Schweinfurt Vehicle Academy. He then founded Autohaus Walch GmbH together with Christian Obermaier, for which he was managing director until June 13, 2012. Since the decision to run for the office of district administrator in the Traunstein district, he has resigned as a partner and managing director of Autohaus Walch GmbH.

Political party

Walch has been a member of the Junge Union since 1999 and was committed to founding the Inzell local association, of which he was elected chairman when it was founded. From 2007 to 2012 he was chairman of the district association of the Junge Union Traunstein. In 2011 he was elected deputy state chairman of the Junge Union Bayern and was confirmed in this office in October 2013. In particular, he is responsible for the departments of Europe, Finance and Budget, Economy and SMEs. Walch has been a member of the CSU since 2004. In 2009 he was elected deputy chairman of the Traunstein district association and held this office until 2013. Walch was elected to the CSU executive committee at the 2013 CSU party conference in Munich.

Political offices

From 2008 to 2013 Siegfried Walch was a councilor for the municipality of Inzell. From 2008 to 2009 he was parliamentary group spokesman for the CSU and from 2009 to 2013 third mayor. Walch was elected to the district council of the Traunstein district in 2008 and was a member of the district committee, the budget committee and the youth welfare committee. On September 14, 2012, Walch was elected as the district administrator candidate of the CSU in the Traunstein district in the first ballot against three party-internal competitors and thus determined to succeed Hermann Stein Maßl (CSU). On March 30, 2014, he won the runoff election to the district administrator against Sepp Konhäuser with 50.99 and 49.01% of the votes.

In 2009, Walch took part in the first edition of the ZDF program Ich kann Kanzler! part. Behind the winner Jacob Schrot from Brandenburg and Philip Kalisch from Berlin and Nuray Karaca from Hesse , Walch took fourth place.

In 2010, he played a key role in ensuring that the Bayern 3 Village Festival was held in Inzell.

Walch has been a member of the Inzell Volunteer Fire Brigade since he was 14. He is also a member of the Inzell Mountain Rifle Company, Deutsche Lebensbrücke e. V., the GTEV D`Falkastoana e. V. and other associations. He was also one of the founding initiators and chairman of the Vision Ice e. V., who is committed to promoting youth in the field of speed skating and short track.

From July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018, Walch was the chairman of the Bavarian country school home association .
