Amine Harit ( Arabic أمين حاريث, DMG Amīn Ḥārīṯ ; Born June 18, 1997 in Pontoise , Île-de-France ) is a Moroccan - French football player . He has been under contract with German Bundesliga club FC Schalke 04 since the 2017/18 season . Harit has been playing for the Moroccan national team since 2017 .

Career

Club career

Beginnings in France

Harit was born to Moroccan parents in Pontoise in the greater Paris area ( Île-de-France ). During his youth he played a. a. at the Paris clubs Paris Saint-Germain and Red Star Paris . In 2012 he moved to the youth team at FC Nantes in western France. At the beginning of the 2016/17 season he was accepted into the first team's squad and made his league and professional debut on the starting line-up on matchday one - August 13, 2016 -: In the away game at FCO Dijon , he played for the entire duration of the game. On December 18th - 18th matchday - he scored his first goal in professional football to make it 2-0 in the away game at SCO Angers .

FC Schalke 04

For the 2017/18 season , Harit moved to the German Bundesliga for FC Schalke 04 , with whom he received a contract that ran until June 30, 2021. There he scored his first Bundesliga goal at 4: 4 in the Revierderby against Borussia Dortmund on November 25, 2017 (13th matchday). In total, he was used 31 times in his first Bundesliga season, scored three goals and provided seven assists. At the end of the season he was named Rookie of the Season by the DFL .

His contract at Schalke runs until 2024.

National team

Harit has played for the French Association since the U18 . He won the title with his team at the U19 European Championship in Germany in 2016 . He played from the start in all five games, preparing three goals, including two in the final in France's 4-0 win over Italy . After the EM he was accepted into the team of the tournament . With the U20 , Harit took part in the U20 World Cup in South Korea , where he was used in three games and scored one goal. He then played twice in the U21 team .

After Harit had shown interest in playing with the French senior team in mid-July 2017, two months later he announced that he would play for Morocco , his parents' home country, in the future. On October 7, 2017, Harit made his debut for the Moroccan national team when he came on for Nordin Amrabat in the 3-0 win in the World Cup qualifier against Gabon shortly before the end of the game . He was in Morocco's squad for the 2018 World Cup . After two 1-0 defeats against Iran and Portugal and a 2-2 draw against Spain , Morocco was the last in Group B to be eliminated from the tournament. Harit was only used in the first game.

Others

At the end of June 2018, Harit was involved as a driver in a road traffic accident in Marrakech with one fatality. In March 2020, he hit the headlines negatively when he visited a shisha bar in Essen despite the COVID-19 pandemic .
