Hartwig Bertrams (born August 20, 1948 in Leichlingen ) is a former German racing driver.

Career

Hartwig Bertrams started his racing career in the late 1960s with Alfa Romeo racing cars in touring car motorsport. From 1972 to 1975 he competed in the European Touring Car Championship . First he drove an Alfa Romeo 1300 GTA Junior for two years . Afterwards he drove a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 together with Gijs van Lennep in the race in Zandvoort to 2nd place and the simultaneous victory in the GT class. In 1975 he started the racing series only once with Thomas Betzler and Siegfried Müller in a BMW 3.0 CSL at the 6-hour race at the Nürburgring and finished in 3rd place and the overall standings.

In 1974 he drove in the German Automobile Round Trip Cup (DARM) and celebrated his first overall victory in the GT class at the airfield race in Sembach. In the same year he also entered the German Racing Championship (DRM). There he drove two with a Porsche 911 Carrera RSR 3.0 and from 1976 with a Porsche 934 . He achieved his best results in 1974 and 1976 with 13th place in the DRM season ranking.

From 1974 to 1976 Bertrams drove first with a 911 Carrera RSR and from 1976 with a Porsche 934 in the European championship for GT vehicles. In this racing series he achieved his greatest motorsport success in 1975 when he won the title.

From 1974 Bertrams also drove endurance races in the sports car world championship . At first he started as a private racing driver with driver colleagues like Günter Steckkönig , Bengt Ekberg and John Fitzpatrick in the 1000 km races on the Nürburgring , Zeltweg and Le Castellet . In 1975 he competed with the Tebernum-Porsche-Racing-Team for a complete season of the brand world championship and with the team drivers Clemens Schickentanz and Reine Wisell achieved several places in the top ten. The following year he drove with Gijs van Lennep at the 1000 km race on the Nürburgring in a Porsche 934/5, his last race in the sports car world championship, both of which finished in 5th place.

He competed in the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1975 and 1976 . In the first year he and Clemens Schickentanz had to give up the race prematurely due to engine failure at the Carrera RSR. In 1976 he and Heinz Martin and Egon Evertz achieved 9th place in the overall ranking and 3rd place in Group 5 .
