Hrant Melkumyan ( Armenian Հրանտ Մելքումյան , the World Chess Federation FIDE Hrant Melkumyan ; * the 30th April 1989 in Yerevan ) is an Armenian Chess - Grandmaster .
successes
In 2006 he finished second behind Arik Braun at the U18 World Cup . In 2009 he took a shared first place at the Chigorin Memorial. In 2010 he also shared first place at the Dubai Open. In 2011 he became European champion in blitz chess . In 2013 he took part in the World Chess Cup in Tromsø , but failed in the first round to Julio Ernesto Granda Zúñiga . Hrant Melkumjan's chess teacher is Levon Aronjan .
He became international champion in January 2007. The norms for this he achieved in February 2005 in group B of the Aeroflot Open in Moscow , in the Iranian team championship of the 2005 season, in July 2006 at the Blue Sewan tournament in Sevan (with overachievement) and at the U18 World Youth Championship 2006 in Batumi . He has been a grandmaster since November 2008. He achieved the standards for the GM title in July 2007 at the Mazovian Festival in Grodzisk Mazowiecki , in March 2008 at the 4th Rectors Cup in Belgorod and in August 2008 with overachievement at the U20 World Cup in Gaziantep .
In the German federal chess league, Hrant Melkumjan played on the top board for Schachfreunde Berlin from the 2011/12 season to the 2016/17 season, in the Austrian Bundesliga he played, also on the top board, from the 2013/14 season to the 2017/18 season for the ASVÖ Wulkaprodersdorf . In the Armenian team championship he played for FIMA Yerevan from 2006 to 2008, and in 2009 for Bank King Yerevan. With FIMA Yerevan he also took part in the European Club Cup in 2008 , where he represented MIKA Yerevan in 2010 and 2011. In the Ukrainian team championship in 2008 he played for the team of the National Ivan Franko University of Lviv . In Iran he played for Ararate Tehran .
