IC 550 is a lenticular galaxy of Hubble type Sun in the constellation Hydra south of the ecliptic . It is an estimated 213 million light years from the Milky Way and about 55,000 light years in diameter.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on February 18, 1893 .
