IC 568 is a bar-spiral galaxy of the Hubble type SBb in the constellation Leo at the celestial equator . It is estimated to be 385 million light years away from the Milky Way and has a diameter of about 195,000 ly.
In the same area of the sky are the galaxies IC 565 , IC 570 , IC 571 , IC 572 .
The object was discovered on January 15, 1894 by the astronomer Stéphane Javelle and later listed by Johan Dreyer in his index catalog .
