IC 577 is a Hubble-type Sc spiral galaxy in the constellation Leo, north of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 397 million light years from the Milky Way and about 70,000 light years across. Together with IC 578 , it forms the isolated galaxy pair KPG 220 .
In the same area of the sky are u. a. the galaxies NGC 3069 , NGC 3070 , IC 576 , IC 584 .
The Type Iax supernova SN 2008ae was observed here.
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on March 22, 1892 .
