IC 561 is a Hubble-type Sb spiral galaxy in the constellation Sextant south of the ecliptic . It is estimated to be 259 million light years from the Milky Way and about 25,000 light years across . Together with IC 563 and IC 564 , it forms the galaxy trio Holm 143 .
The object was discovered by Stéphane Javelle on March 21, 1893 .
